The History of Massage Therapy
Massage therapy has been in practice since early times and is the most natural way of
relieving aches and pains.  When a person is injured or has tired or sore muscles, it is normal
to touch and rub that part of the body to ease the pain.  Massage therapists have been a part
of Eastern medicine for 5,000 years and used in Western medicine for at least 3,000 years.
Medical books have been found from 500 B.C. that had comprehensive writings about
massage therapy in them.

When we think of massage therapy, we often think of the Chinese.  But the countries of
Japan and India as well as the ancient Greeks and Romans, all practiced the art of massage
therapy for the treatment of disease as well as the preservation of their health.  Today,
massage therapists are used in China's medical clinics as well as hospitals and is an important
established part of their culture.  Through writings, it has been discovered that therapists
practiced in China as early as 3000 B.C.  They developed a procedure called anmo.  It was
further refined over many years and focused on finding certain points on the body that
responded effectively to movements such as rubbing and pressing.  The modern Chinese
therapist uses a technique which is called tui-na which means "push-pull".

The Japanese started practicing massage therapy around the Sixth Century A. D.  The
therapist used points that were stimulated were called tsubo and were pressed to stimulate
fluid circulation and Ki, which to the Japanese is the life force energy, and to stimulate nerves.
This was called shiatsu and the therapist still uses this method today.

The Indians received knowledge of massage therapy from China and was an integral part of
their tradition.  The Indian therapist used a form of  therapy that was known as tschanpua, or
massage at the bath.

The Greeks used massage therapy and gymnastics as a regular part of their health routine.
They very much believed in exercising both their body and their mind. The Greek women used
massage therapy as a part of their beauty regimen.

The Romans used massage therapy also to relieve aches and pains, strengthen muscles,
improve circulation and reduce swelling.  Even Julius G. Caesar, the Emperor of Rome, used it
for his bouts with neuralgia and prevention of epileptic attacks.

Massage therapy was not introduced to the United State until 1858 and the techniques of
Mathias Roth were brought to light by Charles Fayette Taylor, a New York doctor.  These
techniques were known as The Swedish Movement Cure.  Both Dr. Taylor and his brother
Henry trained in the Swedish movements allowing the people in the United States to
experience massage therapy for the first time.
Take advantage of my customer referral program.  If you refer my mobile therapist services to a friend, I will
take $10 off the price of your next massage.  It's my way of saying thank you for referring me as a reputable
therapist.
Today massage therapy is an accepted and very respected protocol in the United States.
Many people have come to know a therapist and their skilled hands, through sports injuries
and car accidents and have come to value its importance for not only its pain relief aspects
but also for its benefit to overall health.
Massages make great gifts!  If you have someone with a special day coming up such as a birthday, anniversary
Mother's Day, or Father's Day, surprise them with a gift certificate for a massage.  What better gift is there to
give someone than the gift of a relaxing massage.  It will be both appreciated and never forgotten!
Massage therapy provides a number of benefits to the client such as: decreased stress, increased circulation,
lowering blood pressure, relaxation, a sense of well being,  faster healing of injuries, increase flexibility of joints,
reducing fatigue and improving posture.  It can also pinpoint areas of stress and holding that the client was not
previously aware of.

Not only can massage therapy relax your body and mind, it can enhance your overall health while increasing the
balance in your body without the use of drugs and invasive procedures.  Get a massage in Naples Fl today!
There are medical circumstances where massage therapy would not be recommended.  That's why
filling out and reviewing a health questionnaire before beginning a massage is so important.  Your
therapist should review your questionnaire with you before you begin your massage.  If you are
planning to make massage therapy a regular part of your health regimen, please remember to
keep your Naples therapist updated of any changes in your condition or any new medications that
you may be taking.  Protect yourself by asking to view the therapist's Florida state license as well
as a copy of their insurance.  Naples has many reputable therapists who would be more than
happy to share this with you.  Beware of anyone claiming to be a licensed therapist that will not
share this information with you!
If you have never experienced the skilled hands of a massage therapist, I urge you to do so
today.  I myself try to have regular contact with a massage therapist.  It helps to bring a peace
and balance to my life as well as providing relief from any aches and pains. A skilled massage
therapist in Naples can take a stressed out person and make them feel relaxed and
revitalized!  You don't know of a good therapist in Naples Fl?  Ask your Naples friends and
neighbors about a therapist that they might recommend and make an appointment.
